Catherine Powers devotes her time, energy and soul in mastering this Afro-Brazilian martial art that combines elements of dance and music. She is the director of the Brazilian Cultural Arts Exchange, a non-profit organization located in Gainesville, Fla., where as “Monitora” she trains and teaches the art to people of all ages.
